Yvonne Mora
Yvonne Mora, born in 1959 in Lima, Peru, is an accomplished expressionist painter, having graduated with honors from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1985. Her work is profoundly influenced by iconic masters such as Cezanne, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Sorolla, characterized by vibrant colors, dynamic light, and a life-affirming energy. Mora's paintings are distinguished by confident brushwork and meticulous composition, reflecting her commitment to expressionism. Despite facing challenges due to her unique style both during her educational journey and early in her career, particularly with local art dealers, Mora has maintained her independence and originality, which have been central to her identity as an artist.
Mora's international experiences, especially her travels to Japan and the United States, have infused her work with global elements, enabling her to break free from regional confines and appeal to a wider audience. This exposure led to a significant increase in interest in her work, culminating in prestigious exhibitions such as the Miami Biennial I, the JAALA Biennial IV and V in Japan, and multiple solo shows in Japan and Lima. Her art is now celebrated and held in collections across Japan, Peru, the United States, Canada, and Europe, marking her transition from struggling to find representation to being recognized and sought after by collectors and galleries worldwide.
