Harry Maas, born on July 23, 1906, in Nederweert, Netherlands, emerged as a distinguished Dutch painter known for his vibrant portraits, figure paintings, cityscapes, landscapes, and especially nudes, characterized by an impressionistic style brimming with the joy of painting. The son of Herman H.J. Maas, a notable writer dubbed the 'Brabantse Zola', Harry's early life was fraught with familial strife and societal challenges, which deeply influenced his personal and professional journey. Despite these adversities, including the loss of both parents during his teenage years, Maas pursued his passion for art, receiving his education in drawing and painting in Eindhoven, where he later became a pivotal figure in the local art scene.

Throughout his career, Maas was actively involved in various exhibitions and artist associations, marking his presence in the art community with his unique and expressive works. His only solo show in 1937 and participation in numerous group exhibitions underscored his talent and dedication to art.
