VI GASSMAN
Vi Gassman's journey into the world of art was shaped by her childhood battle with polio, which led her to explore drawing and painting as alternatives to physical activities. Art became her chosen subject through high school and college, evolving into a lifelong passion. Gassman primarily focuses on abstracts and the human figure, finding liberation in the formlessness of abstraction, where she delves into color, line, and texture using acrylics. Her figurative work, characterized by mixed media including acrylics, crayon, charcoal, and collage, reflects her deep fascination with the human body, often developed from live model sketches transformed into paintings in her studio.
Currently, Gassman is exploring a series of figures holding umbrellas, inspired by the drought conditions in San Diego, serving as a personal symbol of hope for rain. Regardless of the medium or subject, her ambition is to produce compelling and emotive art. An award-winning artist, Gassman's creations are an invitation for viewers to experience her enthusiasm for life and her dedication to art, aiming to communicate her energetic spirit and artistic devotion through every piece.
